Carpet - There are a few choices when it comes to Green Carpet (it doesn't take much to be "certified green" but it takes a little more to impress us). PET Carpet has been out for some time now, still a lower priced product and offering less performance than traditional Nylon carpets. PET (polyethylene terephthalate) is made from reclaimed polyester resins from plastic bottles. PET has more resistance to stain and soiling, has a soft feel and a lower moisture absorption than Nylon carpeting.
The best recycled carpet we have found is Dupont Bio PDO. This fiber is derived from corn and marketed through Mohawk carpet under the fiber types PTT, Sorona and Smartstrand. It has the same benefits as PET carpet but added wear rating and softness.Countertops - We have access to two paper countertops: Richlite and PaperStone. Some are made from recycled paper or post consumer waste. Both offer "softer looking" appearance than Stone, Quartz or plastic surfaces. We also offer Vetrazzo a countertop surface made from recycled glass, they recycle traffic lights, windows, beverage containers, windshields, pyrex and dinnerware. 100% of the glass used comes from recycled material. These surfaces are easy to maintain just wash with soap and water and reseal every few years.
