Engineered floors offer the same benefits as solid floors with the advantage of lower moisture absorption and stability. Created for humidity changing environments, like Minnesota, these floors won't show the large gaps between boards during the dry months (winter) and the swelled cupped boards during wet months (summer). Some engineered products are made to float over the floor allowing all gapping and expansion to take place at the perimeter of the room, hidden under your baseboards.

Twenty years ago, no one would think of installing a prefinished hardwood floor. Today, prefinished floors are the "norm". Offering 5/16", 7/16" and 3/4", prefinished solid wood has many advantages over site finished hardwood floors. Virtually all prefinished hardwood floors offer finishes so tough even conventional sanding equipment has a hard time removing the finish and with most backed by a twenty year warranty it has surpassed anything an "on site" finisher can do. These products have, on average, five soats of UV cured urethane applied in a controlled "dust free" environoment - not possible with todays methods of site finishing.  With prefinished wood flooring there are no bubbles, debris and streaks marks which are inherent with on site methods. All solid products can be resanded and restored to "like new" condition at anytime. There is no reason to put up with the dust, fuss and mess "on site" sanding can do!
